State Statutes

• Minnesota Statutes - The full text of the Minnesota Statutes, provided by the Revisor of Statutes.

• National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws - Official site for uniform and model acts and includes the ability to find out which uniform acts have been adopted by a particular state.

United States Code

• U.S. Code - Searchable full text from Cornell with the best organized results.
• U.S. Code - Search and browse the full text through GovInfo, as provided by the U.S. House of Representatives Office of the Law Revision Counsel.

• Tribal Codes - The Tribal Court Clearinghouse from the Tribal Law and Policy Institute has links to various Native American tribal codes.

United States Constitution

• U.S. Constitution Annotated - The Library of Congress provides texts, commentaries, historical texts and judicial decisions.
• U.S. Constitution Online - Includes the text of the U.S. Constitution. Each amendment has its own link, which includes a list of states that ratified the amendment and the dates. Find commentary, history, explanations, and more on this site.

State Regulations and Executive Orders

• License Minnesota -- Minnesota's site for access to information on the over 500 licenses and permits issued by the state.
• Minnesota Rules - The full text of the Minnesota Rules, provided by the Revisor of Statutes. The Minnesota Rules: Drafting Manual with Styles and Forms and Rulemaking in Minnesota: A Guide are also available.
• Minnesota Code of Administrative Regulations -- "This archival collection contains documents published by Minnesota agencies detailing state regulations. In 1984 these regulations were codified in the Minnesota Rules. This collection brings together the documents produced prior to 1984."
• Minnesota State Register - The State Register publishes proposed and adopted rules, official notices, and contracts.
• Minnesota Executive Orders -- A searchable database, created by the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library, of full text executive orders from 1968 to the present.

Federal Regulations

• Code of Federal Regulations - This search interface is provided by GovInfo. Titles are updated regularly.
• Federal Register - Updates the Code of Federal Regulations through a searchable interface.
• Regulations.gov - Find, review, and submit comments on Federal regulations published in the Federal Register that are open for comment.

Federal Courts and Decisions

• United States Courts - Information and answers to frequently asked questions, including links to federal courts. Also includes the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (Minnesota). Search there for opinions, briefs, orders, and more.
• PACER - Public Access to Court Electronic Records is a fee-based service provided by the federal judiciary for electronic access to federal court dockets. Legislators and staff can call the Legislative Reference Library for access.
• Supreme Court Opinions
  • Supreme Court of the United States - The site includes court rules, information about opinions, and the text of recent opinions.
  • Supreme Court Collection -- Indexed by Cornell University, this site contains opinions since 1990.
  • Supreme Court Decisions Issued between 1937 and 1975 - Opinions from 1937 to 1975, provided by GovInfo.
  • Findlaw: Supreme Court Opinions - Searchable database of the Supreme Court decisions since 1893 by citation, case title and full text. Scroll down to get to the search forms.
  • Oyez -- U.S. Supreme Court media files including audio.

Tribal Law

• American Indian Law - Guide created by the Minnesota State Law Library.
• National Indian Law Library - Provides access to the Tribal Law Gateway.
• Tribal Court Clearinghouse -- Resources for people working in Native American tribal courts. Includes Tribal Law Links that provide access to laws, constitutions, court decisions, and other data.

State Legislation

• LLMC -- Access to many primary legislative documents, including most House and Senate journals, from Minnesota and other states, available for legislators and staff only.
• Making Laws -- A guide about how laws are made in Minnesota produced by Minnesota House Research.
• NCSL Bill Information Service -- NCSL provides, to legislators and staff only, a 50-state searchable legislation database.
• Minnesota Revisor's Manual with Styles and Forms - The bill drafting manual for Minnesota provided by the Office of the Revisor of Statutes.

• Guide to Law Online - Prepared by the U.S. Law Library of Congress, this is an annotated guide to sources of information worldwide on government and law.
• LawMoose - A search engine and directory specifically for Minnesota legal resources. Includes the Minnesota Legal Periodical Index.
• Legal Information Institute - Provided by Cornell, often the first place to have legal documents online. LII also has Eye on the Courts, a collection of important decisions and news reports commenting on them.
• LLRX.com - A good source of up-to-date information on Internet legal research. Includes a searchable database of links to court rules, forms, and dockets, and links to federal, state, and commercial bill tracking resources.
• Minnesota Office of the Attorney General Consumer Information--Summaries of Minnesota law for a number of consumer issues.
