Minnesota Government Information

• Disability Minnesota - A gateway to disability-related information and programs available across the Minnesota state government including accessibility, benefits, community life, education, employment, housing, health, rights, technology, and transportation.
• Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) - CareerForce Disability Resources, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and State Services for the Blind, helps people with disabilities and who are blind to achieve their employment and independent living goals.
• Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing State Services Division and People with Disabilities within the Minnesota Department of Human Services list available services and resources which provide access to Minnesota's human service systems. Also, the Telephone Equipment Distribution (TED) Program provides special telephone equipment to people who have difficulty using a standard telephone due to a hearing loss or speech impairment.
• Minnesota Aging and Disability Resources  - A resource finder for people with disabilities from the Minnesota Department of Human Services in partnership with the Minnesota Board on Aging.
• Minnesota Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities - The Council works toward assuring that people with developmental disabilities receive the necessary support to achieve independence. Includes historical documents related to the treatment of the disabled and developmentally delayed in Minnesota.
• Minnesota Ombudsman's Office for Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities - The office provides client services, medical review, and civil commitment training.
• Minnesota Relay - Minnesota's free service providing full telephone accessibility to persons who are deaf, deaf/blind, hard of hearing or speech disabled.
• Minnesota STAR Program - A System of Technology to Achieve Results (STAR) provides a wealth of information about assistive technology.
• Minnesota State Academy for the Blind and the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf - Minnesota's K-12 schools for blind and deaf students.
• Minnesota State Council on Disability - Provides information on current disability issues in Minnesota and the United States.
• Overview of Programs for People with Disabilities - This publication from the Research Department of the Minnesota House of Representatives provides an overview of the various state services available for people with disabilities.

• Arc Minnesota - Arc is an advocacy organization for people who have disabilities. Information on Arc's programs and legislative activities is provided.
• Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute - Information about disabilities, assistive technology, and various services.
• Disability Hub MN - Disability Hub MN is a free statewide resource network that helps you solve problems, navigate the system and plan for your future. You'll discover options and tools for managing your health, your benefits, your work, your housing and more.
• Institute on Community Integration, University of Minnesota - The institute conducts research and training and shares information intended to aid those with disabilities.
• LawHelpMN.org: Disability - From the Minnesota Legal Services Coalition, this page addresses the legal needs of persons with disabilities. Includes fact sheets on disability issues.
• Minnesota Association of Centers for Independent Living (MACIL) - This nonprofit organization advocates for the independent living needs of Minnesotans with disabilities.
• Minnesota Disability Law Center - This organization is the state's designated provider of no-cost legal protection and advocacy for persons with disabilities.
• PACER Center - A Minnesota nonprofit organization that serves families of children and adults with disabilities.

• Partners in Community Supports - A financial management service provider from Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.

National Information

• Administration on Disabilities (AoD) - Part of the Administration for Community Living, the AoD administers programs for Americans with disabilities. Links to Aging and Disability Networks are provided.
• Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) - This U.S. Department of Justice site provides a variety of information on the ADA.
• Disability Statistics - Cornell University Website providing state-by-state and national statistics on prevalence, income, poverty, and employment of people with disabilities.
• Great Lakes ADA & IT Center - One of 10 regional centers funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation. Includes a link to ADA Minnesota.
• National Council on Disability (NCD) - An independent federal agency that makes recommendations to the President and Congress on issues affecting Americans with disabilities. The NCD Bulletin and numerous NCD reports are available.
• Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) - The ODEP provides leadership to increase employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and has information on making workplace accommodations for people with disabilities.
• United States Access Board - A federal agency committed to accessible design. Includes final standards for electronic and information technology covered under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
• United States Department of Labor - Disability Resources and Office of Disability Employment Policy.

• Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law - A nonprofit legal advocacy organization, their 'News and Alerts' page provides status information on federal legislation concerning mental health and disability issues.
• Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) - Promotes Web accessibility through five primary areas of work: technology, guidelines, tools, education and outreach, and research and development.
