Committee and floor audio are one of the many resources which provide insight into the legislative process. For
further information on researching legislative proceedings, consult the Legislative Reference Library’s legislative
history guide and resource list. If you need assistance locating an audio or video file, please

In 2017, the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library received an appropriation to digitize more than 29,000 tapes of legislative proceedings from 1991 to 2003.
In 2020, the Library received a grant from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund to digitize more than 2,000 tapes of legislative commission meetings from 1971 to 2004. (The legislative commission audio will be incorporated into this database soon.) And in 2010, through another grant from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund, the Library digitized 800 Senate tapes from 2004 to correspond with the already digital 2004 House audio.
These digitization projects and the resulting database enhance the existing collection of digital files, making these valuable primary records of the Legislature accessible to anyone at any time, and preserving them into the future.
