Agenda: Special Education is the focus of today?s hearing. SF 2588 requires school districts to report the amount spent on special education litigation costs. Some parents file lawsuits because they feel not enough is being spent on special education needs. The division also considers SF 2744, which sets a formula for an increase in special education funding to account for the Federal Government?s lack of special education support. In 2003, the legislature removed the growth factor increase in 2003 as part of a budget solution.
