Agenda: Minnesota is known to have 400 meth labs throughout the state, and the number is growing. Two bills to curb the manufacturing and use of the home-made drug are before the committee. SF 423 raises penalties for the use and manufacturing of the drug, funds additional BCA agents, and increases treatment and education efforts. (Coverage begins at 00:12:42) SF 901 creates a toll-free meth reporting number, instructs the Legislative Auditor to evaluate treatment programs and establishes civil nuisance penalties (00:02:15). The committee also considers: SF 608 - regulating comprehensive law enforcement data of the Dept. of Commerce (01:50:00); SF 647 - providing for allocation of common condominiums expenses (01:56:00).
