Toensing, Minnesota in Three Centuries, and the Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1889 list his first name as Allan. History of Minnesota and Tales of the Frontier, 1900 lists Allen.

He came to northeastern Minnesota in 1821.

His party affiliation was taken from The History of Minnesota: from the French Explorations to the Present Time, 1873. In there it states that on October 20, 1849 the first Minnesota Democratic Party convention was held. He was listed as one of the Vice-Presidents.

He died and was buried on the White Earth Indian Reservation in Minnesota.

Sturges, of the Sixth District, was elected by his constituents to both the Council and the House, and his election was so certified and proclaimed by the Governor. He resigned the office of Representative and at a special election Allan Morrison was chosen in his stead." (Holcombe. Minnesota in Three Centuries, Volume 2, p. 438). The exact special election date is unknown. He was sworn in on September 14, 1849.
