Hazardous Waste Management Planning Council
Function: The council made recommendations to the Minnesota Waste Management Board concerning industrial waste management planning, waste management facility development, and industrial waste reduction issues and programs.
Waste Management Board Chairman Robert Dunn appointed eighteen persons to serve on the Hazardous Waste Management Planning Council in December of 1980, with the appointments effective January 14, 1981. The Council held its first meeting on January 21, 1981.
In 1994 the appointing agency for the Council was the Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance. 1994 Laws of Minnesota Chapter 639 renamed the Office of Waste Management the Office of Environmental Assistance.
The council expired June 30,1997 per 1994 Laws of Minnesota Chap. 480 Sec. 8.
The membership of the hazardous waste advisory council was to be broadly representative of the geographic areas and interests of the state; 1/3 to be citizen representatives, 1/3 representatives from local government units, 1/3 representatives of hazardous waste generators and private hazardous waste management firms. Members were appointed by the Waste Management Board; terms not specified; members served without compensation but were reimbursed for expenses.
