Decision Process Advisory Task Force

Active dates:2020 -
Authority:
Established by the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board
Function:

The Decision Process Task Force will conduct a comprehensive review of Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board (CAAPB) policies and procedures that relate to the addition, alteration, or removal of monuments, memorials, and works of art on the Capitol grounds and in the State Capitol. The Task Force will provide recommendations in the form of a report to the CAAPB on how to best develop a decision-making process regarding the addition, alteration, or removal of monuments, memorials, and works of art on the Capitol grounds and in the State Capitol.

History:

In 2020 the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board (CAAPB) began conducting a series of meetings focused on establishing a proactive, transparent, and public process to evaluate the monuments and artwork displayed on the Capitol Grounds. Aside from Minn. Stat. 15B.08, subd. 3, there is no formal CAAPB process that addresses the potential removal of monuments and artwork from the Capitol grounds. The Decision Process Advisory Task Force, along with the Public Engagement Advisory Task Force, were convened to help discuss and establish that process.
