Higher Education Board Candidate Advisory Council

Function: The board assists the governor in determining criteria for, and identifying and recruiting qualified candidates for, membership on the higher education board.
History:
This council was established in 1991 and operated until 1995. During this time period, the Higher Education Board, commonly referred to as the "superboard", was created and worked to merge the seven state universities, the 21-campus college system and the 34-campus technical college system into one. The Higher Education Board Candidate Advisory Council assisted the governor in determining criteria for, and identifying and recruiting qualified candidates for, membership on the Higher Education Board.
