Ombudsperson's Advisory Committee

Function: The committee approves the ombudsperson appointed to serve each of Minnesota's four minority councils. The committee shall provide advice and counsel to each ombudsperson.
History:
In 1994 the Ombudsperson's Advisory Committee was replaced by four separate boards responsible for appointing and advising the ombudsperson for each of Minnesota's four minority councils.
Membership:
The committee consists of no more than 17 members. Members of the advisory committee shall be appointed by the following groups: the Indian Affairs Council; the Spanish-Speaking Affairs Council; the Council on Black Minnesotans; and the Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans. The members shall designate four rotating chairpersons to serve annually at the pleasure of the members. The committee shall meet at least four times a year at the request of its chair or the ombudspersons. The membership terms, compensation, and removal of members of the committee and the filling of membership vacancies are governed by Minn. Stat. 15.0575.
