    Function: Review cases of adult prisoners seeking release (parole) from the Minnesota state prison, reformatory, and correctional institution for women.

    History: 1959 - The Minnesota Department of Corrections was formed, combining the Youth Conservation Commission, the State Board of Parole and adult institutions formerly administered by the Department of Public Welfare. The Board of Parole was renamed the Adult Corrections Commission.

    1959 Minn. Laws Chap. 262 Sec. 3,4 -
    "The name of the board of parole and probation is hereby changed to the adult corrections commission. The duties .of. Chairman of the adult corrections commission are hereby imposed upon the deputy commissioner of corrections controlling and supervising the division of adult corrections in the department of corrections."

    Operated as part of the Division of Adult Corrections within the Minnesota Department of Corrections. In 1973 became Minnesota Corrections Authority (1973 Minn. Laws Chap. 654 Sec. 14).
