Council for the Blind

Authority:
Function: Advise the commissioner of human services concerning qualifications for director of services for the blind; development of policies, programs, and services affecting the blind; and policies relating to eligibility determinations. Also, create public awareness of the needs of blind people; and review services, programs, and proposed legislation affecting blind and visually disabled people.
Succeeded by:
Rehabilitation Advisory Council for the Blind
History: Succeeded by Rehabilitation Advisory Council for the Blind (1993 Minn. Laws Chap. 97).
Membership: 9 members (at least 4 must be blind or visually handicapped); appointed by commissioner of human services; staggered 3-year terms; compensation governed by Minn. Stat. 15.075. (1991)
