Text: The House DFL and House Republican caucuses reached a power-sharing agreement on February 5, 2025, to be in effect until one party reaches an organizational majority of 68 members (see Agreement for House Organization, 94th Regular Legislative Session [https://www.lrl.mn.gov/docs/2025/other/250856.pdf] and Supplemental Agreement for House Organization, 94th Regular Legislative Session [https://www.lrl.mn.gov/docs/2025/other/250974.pdf]). The agreement, primarily brokered by Rep. Melissa Hortman and Rep. Lisa Demuth, resulted in the Republican caucus holding the speakership while sharing other legislative leadership roles with the DFL Caucus Leader. For example, the GOP Speaker and DFL Caucus Leader shared appointment powers to councils, commissions, and boards. Some appointment letters are attached as examples of this power sharing.
