Description: Report by school districts that have or have had American Indian mascots that includes: (1) confirmation that the school district has removed the American Indian mascot, nickname, logo, letterhead, or team name from the school district website; (2) confirmation that the board of the school district has approved a new mascot, nickname, logo, letterhead, or team name; (3) a summary of the school district's progress on removing the American Indian mascot, nickname, logo, letterhead, or team name from uniforms, equipment, signs, elements of facilities, and other district items; and (4) a summary of resources necessary to comply with the prohibition on American Indian mascots and the school district's plan to raise and allocate any necessary funds

Note: A first report is due from school districts to the state Legislature by February 14, 2025. The second and final report is due by February 1, 2026. These two reports are due from school districts that have American Indian mascots that are prohibited under Minn. Stat. 121A.041 Subd. 2, and have not received exemptions from the prohibition on such mascots under Minn. Stat. 121A.041 Subd. 3 2024 Minn. Laws Chap. 109 Art. 2 Sec. 17 amended 2023 Minn. Laws Chap. 55 Art. 4 Sec. 6 to add this report mandate. The mandate is for each school district with a prohibited American Indian mascot to submit reports to the Legislature and the Minn. Legislative Reference Library. As of February 2026, Battle Lake Public Schools (ISD 542) has determined the district does not fall under this mandate.
