Mandate Details

Description: Report with outcomes, including statutory changes, of Mentally Ill and Dangerous Civil Commitment Reform Task Force duties, regarding individuals civilly committed as mentally ill and dangerous: (1) analyze trends; (2) review national practices and criteria; (3) recommend statutory changes to provide services; (4) develop funding and statutory recommendations for alternatives to the current process; (5) identify placements and services needed to serve such individuals in the community; (6) recommend how to reduce barriers to discharge from the forensic mental health program; (7) recommend statutory changes to clarify definitions in Minn. Stat. 253B.18; (8) recommend statutory changes for the Minn. Dept. of Human Services to address situations in which such individuals are determined to not have an organic brain or psychiatric disorders; and (9) make recommendations for voluntary return of such individuals to community facilities
