Description:

Preliminary report on the Supreme Court Council on Child Protection's duties, and a final report with comprehensive blueprint for improvement of the child protection system, including prevention and early intervention, by:
(1) reviewing policies, laws, practices, research and data;
(2) gathering information through surveys or focus groups;
(3) reviewing research on child foster care placement and out-of-home placement;
(4) recommending changes in policies and law to improve outcomes for children and families in the child protection system or at risk of maltreatment; and
(5) recognizing the inherent sovereignty of Tribal Nations and the unique political status of their children and families

Preliminary report is due by July 15, 2025; and final report is due by January 15, 2026. The Minn. Supreme Court is "invited" to establish a Supreme Court Council on Child Protection and Maltreatment Prevention. The Supreme Court Council on Child Protection expires upon the submission of its final report.
