Results of a joint study of commercial driver shortages in transportation and transit sectors with recommendations regarding driver shortages and the attrition rate of commercial vehicle drivers in Minnesota, including a comprehensive examination of test access, workforce development, driver compensation and retention, training and certification offered by postsecondary institutions, and how challenges in these areas may be addressed by the Legislature or other state regulatory action

The Minn. Dept. of Public Safety and the Minn. Dept. of Transportation must consult with stakeholders involved in the training, certification, licensing, development, and education of commercial drivers (including trucking companies, freight and logistics companies, transit and bus operators, labor unions representing commercial motor vehicle drivers, public and private commercial driver's license testing providers and behind-the-wheel instructors);
Minn. Dept. of Labor and Industry; Minn. Dept. of Commerce; Minn. Dept. of Employment and Economic Development; Metro Transit; the Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Minnesota; and Minn. State.
The Minn. Dept. of Public Safety and the Minn. Dept. of Transportation must solicit public comment and convene at least six meetings of a working group before publication of the report.
