She ran unsuccessfully as the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party endorsed candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives in the 2010 election. Her opponent, Rich Murray, defeated her by 57 votes so an automatic recount occurred. The recount confirmed that Rich Murray had won.
