Toensing, and the St. Paul Pioneer Press, November 10, 1877 list his last name as Stacy. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1878 lists both Stacy and Stacey.

He came to Minnesota in 1867.

He was a farmer. He was also a carpenter and builder.

He was listed as a Republican on the list of members posted after the 1877 election. ("The Next Legislature." St. Paul Pioneer Press, November 10, 1877)

He died due to injuries sustained when he was knocked from his horse and beaten in the woods (The Minneapolis Journal, 1881).

He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, Minnesota.
