He moved to Eagle Lake Township in 1938 and farmed with his brother for two years. He and his wife farmed and raised their family on their farm in Eagle Lake. He and his wife were chosen as Otter Tail County farm family of the year in 1991.

His funeral was held at Leaf Mountain Lutheran Church. He is buried at Nidaros Lutheran Church Cemetery, Clitherall, Minnesota.
