GENERAL NOTES
He moved to Crane Lake, Minnesota in 1982.
He died of cancer while still in office.
"'There are few legislators who focused so intently on representing his constituents or who did so more effectively,' said House DFL Leader Paul Thissen, of Minneapolis. "He wore his success lightly and when he spoke, people listened because they knew he said what he really believed, he didn't play partisan games, and most often had common sense on his side.'" (Star Tribune obituary, August 10, 2015)
"'The individual requests that came up through his office, he'd take the time to make the phone calls and straighten things out for them,' (Lake County commissioner Rick) Goutermont said. 'Time and time again he would do that and we're certainly going to miss him on both ends of the spectrum, whether it's the big picture or the little picture. It's a huge void in our legislative process.'" (Lake County News Chronicle, August 17, 2015)
