He came to Hamilton, Minnesota in 1867. He moved to Racine, Wisconsin in 1893. He came to Rochester, Minnesota in June 1911.
He was a member of the Masonic order, Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.), and the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.).
He died from an illness that had lasted several months. He was buried in Hamilton Cemetery in Fillmore County, Minnesota.
