He moved to Potter County, Pennsylvania in 1832, with his parents. They went to Alleghany County, New York in the fall of 1835. They moved to Crawford County, Pennsylvania in the fall of 1838. The went to Trumball County, Ohio in the fall of 1842. They returned to Crawford County, Pennsylvania around 1844. He came to Minnesota on April 26, 1856, settled in Marion Township, Olmsted County.
