He was elected in the 1942 general election, but resigned before he was sworn in to enter the navy (St. Cloud Times, January 1, 1943).

The actual date he withdrew is uncertain. He was reelected in the 1942 election but withdrew after the election and before he was sworn in.

He is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Delavan, Minnesota.

Religion reported in his obituary. He was a longtime member of Mater Dolorosa parish and later of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Easton.
