Toensing lists his city of residence as Bloomington, Minnesota. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1889 lists Lac qui Parle. This seems unlikely since the only reference we can find is a Lac qui Parle Township and it was first settled by homesteaders in 1868. The History of Minnesota: from the Earliest French Explorations to the Present Time, 1873 lists Oak Grove.McLeod County, Minnesota was named after him.
