Toensing, the Minnesota Journal of the Senate, 1893, and the Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1891 on p. 239 and p. 567 list his last name as Leavitt. The Minnesota Legislative Manuals, 1891 (p. 246) and 1893 list Leavett. His tombstone lists Leavitt.

He came to Minnesota in 1868.

He was he last surviving member of the GAR Frank Daggett post #35 in Litchfield, Minnesota and the last civil war veteran buried in Meeker County.
