He was a prominent Mason. He was a member of the Ancient Landmark Lodge No. 5 of St. Paul, and Summit Chapter No. 45. He was a Knight Templar in Paladin Commandery No. 21. He was a Potentate of Osman Temple. He was a member of the Red Cross of Constantine and a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member and Council Commander of the Woodmen of the World order.
He was a member of the Minnesota Boat Club and a leader in the National Amateur Rowing Association.
He died in Ramsey County, Minnesota.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
