    The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1881 lists his first initial as both L. and S. It appears the S was a typo. All other sources checked list L. or Loren for his first name.

    He moved to Chicopee, Massachusetts in 1840, with his parents. They then moved to Palmer, Massachusetts in 1851. He came to Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, Minnesota in 1853 or 1854. He moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota around 1866.

    When he ran for the Minnesota Supreme Court his opponents were endorsed by the Democratic and Populist parties.

    He ran unsuccessfully for Minnesota Governor in 1904.

    He was a member of the Masonic Order. He was once president of the State Historical Society.

    He died at home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
