He ran unsuccessfully as the Republican endorsed candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota with John Johnson as Governor in the 1974 election.
He played football for the University of Minnesota.
He was the head fooball coach at Moorhead State University, 1960-1969. In 1969 he became athletic director.
He died of brain cancer at home in Moorhead, Minnesota. His funeral was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church.
