"He was most proud of co-authoring the bill that cleared the path for construction of several junior college and technical schools in the Twin Cities. He successfully argued for the current location of Normandale Junior College and was given the nickname 'Mr. Normandale.'" (Star Tribune obituary)
His funeral was held on September 4, 2018 at The Church of the Nativity of Mary in Bloomington. He was buried at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
