GENERAL NOTES

"After high school, he worked in the fields of North Dakota during the summers and helped his dad and brother log during the winter months. In 1950, he enlisted in the Air Force and served as a radio operator on military aircraft during the Korean War. Shortly after returning from the service, he started dairy farming on the home farm northeast of Nimrod. As he did throughout his life, he logged during the winters and always enjoyed being in the woods. He married Anna Haaland on Sept. 30, 1960, and both of them took over the family farm. He was a member of and involved in many organizations. He was active in Farmers Union, National Farmers Organization; served on county and state Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services committees for several years, served on the school board and was a state representative in the Minnesota Legislature. He served for many years as a director and member of the Central Minnesota Small Woodlot Owners Association and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sebeka and the American Legion. In 1986, the Grabas sold the dairy cows, and Mr Graba worked as a field representative for the Minnesota Farmers Union for several years." (Obituary, Wadena Pioneer Journal, December 15, 2004)
