GENERAL NOTES

Toensing lists his birth year as 1852. Compendium of History and Biography of Polk County, Minnesota, 1916 lists 1851. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1903 lists him as being 51 years old. The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1905 lists him as being 53 years old. Since his birthday was in June, the 1851 date is probably accurate. He was listed as being 61 years old when he died. Since he died in July, after his birthday, this would also indicate that he was born in 1851.

He was born on a farm. He moved to the United States around 1861, with his parents. They settled in Waupaca County, Wisconsin. He came to Polk County, Minnesota in 1880. He moved to Grand Forks, County, North Dakota and then came to Fisher, Minnesota.
