                                    Toensing, Progressive Men of Minnesota, 1897, the Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1883 and the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress list his last name as Steenerson.  The Minnesota Legislative Manual, 1885 lists both Steenerson and Steenersen.
He was of Norwegian ancestry.
He came to Sheldon, Houston County, Minnesota in 1853, with his parents.  He moved to Crookston, Polk County, Minnesota in 1880.

He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the United States House of Representatives in 1922.
He died in Crookston, Minnesota and was buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
He was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Synod Church.
