He moved to a farm in Mansfield Township, Minnesota in 1886 with his parents.

In 1913 he was listed as a Republican, in 1933 he was listed as an active member of the Farmer-Labor Association of Minnesota. (Minnesota Legislative Manuals, 1913, and 1933)

He died while in office and a special election to fill his seat was called, but was not filled.

He is buried at Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield Minnesota.
