He moved to Ohio in 1842. He went to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1845. He moved to Galesburg, Illinois in 1853. He came to Minnesota in 1854. He lived in Olmsted County, Minnesota until 1869 when he moved to Carver County, Minnesota.
