                                    He became a resident of Minneapolis in 1942.
He was the Executive Director of the Citizens League in 1958-1967; he was the Citizens League board chair from 1974-1975.
He spent 15 years as an executive of General Mills.
He founded the Civic Caucus, a group of policy leaders focused on making Minnesota a leading state in the areas of health, education, and welfare, in 2005.
A memorial service was held at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie on November 10, 2012. He was buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
