Legislative Commission to Review Administrative Rules

Function:

Review Minnesota state agency rules, with authority to suspend any rules that go beyond legislative authority, are in conflict with legislative intent, or are unreasonable, inadequate, or improper.

History:

Created in 1974, but was inactive until 1976 because the Senate had refused to appoint members. (Source: Capitol reporter, 30 June 1977, p. 4). The commission was eliminated as of July 1996, pursuant to 1995 Minn. Laws Chap. 248 Art. 2 Sec. 6 Subd. 1.

Membership:

Bipartisan: 5 senators, 5 representatives appointed by speaker; no term specified.
