Legislative Commission on Planning and Fiscal Policy

Function: The commission was created to provide the legislature with in-depth analysis of actual and projected state government revenues, expenditures, and tax expenditures. As well as the Legislature's role in oversight of on-budget and off-budget spending.
The commission shall report to the legislature on its activities and recommendations by January 15 of each odd-numbered year.
History:
Staffing for commission eliminated pursuant to 1995 Minn. Laws Chap. 248 Art. 2 Sec. 6 Subd. 3.
Membership:
As of 2013, the Legislative Commission on Planning and Fiscal Policy consists of nine members of the senate appointed by the Subcommittee on Committees of the Committee on Rules and Administration and nine members of the house of representatives appointed by the speaker.
