Governor's Residence Council

Created in 1980 as the Ceremonial Building Council. The name changed from the Ceremonial Building Council to Governor's Residence Council; membership to include spouse of governor or designee (1983 Minn. Laws Chap. 260 Sec. 8, Subd. 2). Expiration date extended to 30 June 1993 (1988 Minn. Laws Chap. 629 Sec. 12).

The Governor's Residence Council was reviewed by the Legislative Commission on Planning and Fiscal Policy (LCPFP) in 2013 as part of their biennial duty required by Minn. Stat. 3.885 Subd. 11. The LCPFP's 2013 Recommendations called for keeping the council.


19 members, 13 appointed by governor; Membership; 15 members (Commissioner of Administration, spouse or designee of governor, Executive Director of Arts Board, director of Minnesota Historical Society, 1 member each of the American Society of Interior Designers, American Institute of Architects, American Society of Landscape Architects, and 1 member of the family that donated the governor's residence to the state, and 4 public members); terms governed by Minn. Stat. 15.0575; members serve without compensation.
