Function: Advises the Health Professionals Services Program Committee as it provides overall management and direction of the Health Professionals Services Program. The Health Professionals Services Program is a confidential program designed to monitor the treatment and continuing care of regulated health care professionals who may be unable to practice with reasonable skill and safety by reason of illness, use of alcohol, drugs, chemicals, or any other materials, or as a result of any mental, physical, or psychological condition. Treatment plans and practice limitations may address physical, mental, or psychological conditions, including chemical abuse and/or dependency. The advisory committee shall also provide consultation to the participating boards who are legislatively charged with adopting joint rules for program services (see Minnesota Statutes section 214.37).
