Salvage Title Task Force

Function:

The task force is established to evaluate issues related to salvage certificates of title and make any recommendations for legislative changes. By January 31, 2022, the task force must submit a report to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees with jurisdiction over transportation finance and policy. At a minimum, the report must describe the activities, evaluations and findings, cost estimates, and recommendations of the task force.

History:

By September 1, 2021, the chair of the Legislative Coordinating Commission must convene the first meeting of the task force. The task force expires the day following submission of the required report.

Membership:

The task force consists of the following members: two members of the house of representatives, with one appointed by the speaker of the house and one appointed by the house minority leader; and two members of the senate, with one appointed by the senate majority leader and one appointed by the senate minority leader.

The appointing authorities must make the appointments by August 1, 2021. At its first meeting, the task force must elect a chair by a majority vote of those members present.

The following individuals serve on the task force: Senators John Jasinski (chair) and Jim Carlson, and Representatives John Petersburg and Cheryl Youakim.
