Medicaid Services Advisory Committee

Also known as:
DHS Medicaid Services Advisory Committee
Active dates:2018 -
42 CFR Sec. 431.12

The committee will provide guidance on key initiatives brought forward by DHS that affect Medicaid program administration, policy or Medicaid funded services. MSAC members will achieve the committee purpose by: providing guidance on specific policies, initiatives, and proposed program changes brought forward by DHS; acting as liaisons back to individuals, organizations, and institutions that receive, facilitate, or provide Medicaid services; at times, if two-thirds of the members agree, create smaller work groups within the MSAC to address particular issues. Workgroups will have clear tasks and guidelines and standardized parameters.

The DHS Medicaid Services Advisory Committee serves to advise DHS and the commissioner, and is not a governing board.

In 2017, the Medicaid Citizens' Advisory Committee hired a facilitator to help work through some concerns they were facing.

The newly reformed Committee held its first meeting August 30, 2018.

Members will be representatives of community groups and professional stakeholder organizations, Medicaid beneficiaries, and various health care and long term services and supports professionals that influence the health and covered services of Medicaid populations.

As of August 30, 2018, the committee members are: Shannon Bakshian; Dr. Christine Foulkes; Hodan Guled; Kerri Gordon; Robert Marcum; Terriann Thommes
