Special Education Task Force

Function: The Task Force was created to submit a report that: "Identifies clearly and concisely explains each provision in state law or rule that exceeds or expands upon a minimum federal requirement contained in the law or regulation for providing special education programs and services to eligible students. The report must also recommend which state provisions that exceed or expand upon a minimum federal requirement may be amended to conform with minimum federal requirements." History:
The Task Force met seven times between September, 2007, and February, 2008. The Task Force members initially agreed to four meetings but added three more in order to complete as much of the Task Force’s work as possible.

The Task Force was facilitated by Mariann Johnson, of M.T. Johnson and Associates and convened by Commissioner James A. Cunningham, Jr.
