Function: The State Ceremonial House Development Advisory Committee is a permanent, non-partisan commission charged with preserving the character of the governor's residence, including the home's exterior, the atmosphere of the interior, and channeling private and public funds into restoration adhering to accepted design philosophy and guidelines for the residence.
History:
According to a 1979 news release from Gov. Quie's office: "The committee will serve in an advisory capacity but will seek legislation to establish a permanent body to guarantee historic dignity to the house and grounds." The Legislature established the Ceremonial Building Council in 1980 (see Laws of Minn. 1980, chap. 510).
