Function: The commission shall undertake activities it determines are necessary to advise the legislature and oversee executive activities on issues related to homeland security, emergency management, man-made and natural disasters, terrorism, bioterrorism, public health emergencies, and vulnerabilities in public and private infrastructures.
Membership:
The Working Group on Preparedness for Terrorism and Disasters consists of: a) three members of the House of Representatives, including one member of the minority party, appointed by the Speaker; b) three members of the Senate, including one member of the minority party, appointed by the Senate Subcommittee on Committees of the Committee on Rules and Administration; c) two public members with relevant expertise, appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; and, d) two public members with relevant expertise, appointed by the Senate Subcommittee on Committees of the Committee on
Rules and Administration.
