Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Operators Certification Council

Active dates:1971-1995
Function: Makes rules necessary for the classification of water and wastewater facilities and the certification of water and wastewater operators.
History: Created as a board in 1971 (Board of Certification for Water and Wastewater Treatment). In 1976 the group was renamed a council. In 1985 the commissioners of health and pollution control replaced the governor as appointing authorities.

The Council was sunset in 1995, and the current Water Supply Systems and Wastewater Treatment Facilities Advisory Council was formed.

Membership: 6 members (water supply system operator and representative of League of Minnesota Cities, appointed by commissioner of health; wastewater treatment facility operator and college faculty member who major field is related to water supply or wastewater collection and treatment, appointed by director of Pollution Control Agency; representative of the Health Department; director of the Pollution Control Agency or a staff member); terms governed by Minn. Stat 15.059; compensation governed by Minn. Stat. 15.059; members file with Ethical Practices Board.
