Review quality control, research, and market development in the certified seed potato industry.
This group was created in 1951 as the Advisory Seed Potato Certification Committee. In 1983 the group was renamed a "task force" and its existence made optional. Appointment and expiration was at the discretion of the commissioner of agriculture. In 2001 the legislature set the expiration date of the committee for June 30, 2003 (see Laws of Minnesota 2001, chap. 161, sec. 9), but it appears the committee may have met through 2007.
Originally, the committee consisted of six members appointed by the commissioner of agriculture, each of whom was a grower of certified seed potatoes in Minnesota (see Minn. Stat. 21.112 (1982)). Members served staggered three-year terms. After 1983, membership was governed by Minn. Stat 15.059.
