Rehabilitation Review Panel

Function:

Advises the Minnesota commissioner of labor and industry concerning rehabilitation matters relating to workers compensation, and hears appeals under Minn. Chap 14 under Minn Statutes 176.103 subd. 3.

History:

The Rehabilitation Review Panel (RRP) was created in 1981, by Minnesota Statutes 176.102, to offer advice and recommendations to the commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry about all aspects of vocational rehabilitation care impacting work-related injuries or illnesses (From: RRP's website 9/21/09, this appears to conflict with 1979 Minn. Laws Sp. Sess. Chap. 3 Sec. 36 Subd. 3).

Membership:

14 members (2 representatives each from employers, insurers, rehabilitation and medicine, 1 representative of chiropractors, 4 representing labor, plus 3 alternates); commissioner of labor and industry, ex officio, or designee; appointed by commissioner of labor and industry; 4-year terms; per diem and expenses; members file with Ethical Practices Board.
