Railroad Planning Advisory Committee

Function: The Committee will have three major functions: (1) review studies and recommendations made by state agencies; (2) provide programs concerning railroads; and (3) help identify rail related issues and problems.
History:
Peter Vanderpoel, Director of the State Planning Agency, appointed a Railroad Planning Advisory Committee to provide information to the Departments of Public Service, Highways, Agriculture, Economic Development, the Energy Agency, and the Countryside Council who will cooperate in an effort to develop a railroad transportation planning capacity.
The first meeting of the Committee was held October 16, 1975.
Membership:
40 members: including representatives from the legislature, transportation industries, railroads, shippers and government agencies.
