Active dates:1984 - 1993
Function: Examines voting machines or electronic voting systems proposed for use in Minnesota and advises the secretary of state on certification of this equipment for use at elections.
Preceded by:
Voting Machines Advisory Committee
History: Authority to create an advisory committee was enacted in 1975 (1975 Minn. Laws Chap. 61 Sec. 3; Minn. Stat. 206.08). Task force meets only when new equipment is proposed for use. "The task force is no longer in existence as of August 1993" (Source: Annual compilation and statistical report: membership on state councils, boards and commissions, 1993).
Membership: 7 members (representation from each major political party and from cities and counties using voting equipment); appointed by secretary of state; terms governed by Minn. Stat. 15.059; compensation governed by Minn. Stat. 15.059.
